Report on Rampur Parliamentary seat in Uttar Pradesh

In the first phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2024, polling will be held for eight seats of Uttar Pradesh. Rampur Parliamentary seat is included in this phase. This seat is in Moradabad division of UP. BJP has fielded its sitting MP Ghanshyam Singh Lodhi for this seat. Molibullah Nadvi, who is Pesh Imam of New Delhi Jama Masjid is contesting on Samajwadi Party ticket, while Bahujan Samaj Party has given ticket to Zeeshan Khan for this seat. Three other candidates are also contesting for this Lok Sabha seat.

Rampur District has a population of 29 lakh three thousand 172, of which, 75 percent population is in rural areas and 25 % people live in urban areas. The total electorate in this Parliamentary constituency is 17 lakh, 29 thousands 280, of which, Nine lakh 14 thousand 743 are male voters, 8 lakh 14 thousands 379 female voters and 158 transgender voters.

 

Rampur Lok Sabha constituency has five Assembly segments, that are, Swar, Chamrauaa, Bilaspur, Rampur and Milak seats. The boundary of this Lok Sabha seat touches Bijnor, Nagina, Moradabad, Sambhal, Amroha and Meerut parliamentary constituencies.

 

Apart from the candidates of BJP, INDIA Alliance and BSP, Arshad Warsi of Minorities Democratic Party and two independent candidates, Shiv Prasad and Mahmood Pracha are also contesting on this seat. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Dr Nepal Singh of BJP has defeated the SP candidate Naseer Ahmad Khan. Senior Samajwadi Party leader and 10 time MLA Mohammad Azam Khan was elected from this seat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Azam Khan had defeated BJP candidate and famous film actress Jaya Prada with a huge margin of votes. When Azam khan resigned from this seat , the result of Bye election was gone in favour of BJP.
