Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh will inaugurate the opening ceremony of the 132nd Durand Cup today at SAI Stadium in Kokrajhar district of Assam.
Besides, the Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Pande, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief Executive Member of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), Pramod Boro, president of All India Football Federation (AIFF) Kalyan Chaubey and other dignitaries from civil and defence will also attend the ceremony.
On 5th August 2023, the local team Bodoland FC will face Rajasthan United FC at Asia’s oldest football tournament. It may be mentioned that eight teams will play at SAI, Kokrajhar beginning today. The teams are Bodoland FC, Odisha FC, Rajasthan FC, Shillong Lajong FC, Indian Army FT, Delhi FC, Tribhuvan Army Nepal FT, and Down Town Heroes FC.
The mega event is being organised by the Indian Army in association with Assam Government and Bodo Territorial Region. Armed Forces contingents will display various performances including cultural programmes by local troupes during the inaugural event.
