Rajya Sabha takes up Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order (Third Amendment) Bill, 2022 for consideration and passing

Rajya Sabha has taken up the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order (Third Amendment) Bill, 2022 for consideration and passing today. The Bill seeks to amend the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order, 1950, with regard to Himachal Pradesh. Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda introduced the Bill in the House. The Bill includes the Hattee community of Trans Giri area of Sirmour district in the list of Scheduled Tribes in Himachal Pradesh.
 
Initiating the discussion, Mamata Mohanta of Biju Janata Dal supported the Bill saying that efforts should be made for the development of tribal communities by focusing on education, and health. Dr. Sumer Singh Solanki of BJP said, the government has taken a series of measures and decisions for the welfare of tribal communities under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Another party MP Dr. Sikander Kumar also supported the Bill. Dr. M. Thambidurai of AIADMK and others also spoke on the bill. Discussion is underway.
