Rain & thunderstorm activity over Northeast India to continue till Tuesday

Indian Meteorological Department has forecast continued rain and thunderstorm activity over Northeast India, Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim from Sunday till Tuesday.

Light to moderate rainfall or snowfall was observed at most places over Arunachal Pradesh, at many places over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad and at isolated places over Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. There is a forecast of enhancement of rainfall with thunderstorm activity over the Western Himalayan Region from 26th to 29th March.

Yellow Alert has been issued for Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Rajasthan with the likelihood of thunderstorms and lightning at isolated places today. There will be a fall in maximum temperatures by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius during the next 24 hours over many parts of the plains of Northwest India and again rise by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius during the next three days. Weather is likely to be dry over the rest of northwest India.
