Indian Railways has achieved freight loading of over 634 million tonnes between April and August this year which is over 13 million tonnes more than the corresponding period last year.
Railway Ministry said, in August this year, Railways has loaded over 126 million tonnes against 119 million tonnes in the same month last year, which shows a growth of over six per cent.
The Ministry said, Railways has also witnessed around 48 per cent Capital expenditure utilization, the highest ever, in the first five months of this financial year. It said, a significant sum has been invested in enhancing the safety related works.
