Railway Stations to get CCTV cameras Nationwide within 1.5 years: Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has said that CCTV cameras will be installed at all Railway stations in sufficient numbers within one and a half years. Replying to supplementaries during the Question Hour, Mr Vaishnaw said the work related to the installation of CCTV cameras at railway stations is underway in different parts of the country. On women’s safety, the Minister said that Indian Railways has taken several measures for the safety of women. The Minister highlighted that war rooms have also been set up in every division, zone and Railway Board through which stations are being constantly monitored. He added that in the Railway Protection Force, 9.4 per cent of the workforce is women. 

 

The Minister informed that every state, including North East, Himachal Pradesh, and  Kerala, has been provided Vande Bharat train service. Mr Vaishnaw said that as of 31st March this year, 136 Vande Bharat trains are operational in the country. He said, Indian Railway is trying to provide local cuisine to passengers on the train.
