In Bihar, train services have been stopped on the Jamalpur-Bhagalpur rail section after rail tracks submerged between Sultanganj and Ratanpur stations. The rising water level of Ganga is touching the girder of the rail bridge between Sultanganj and Ratanpur stations. The Ganga River is showing an unprecedented rise in water level over the past week in the state. Four trains, including Bhagalpur-Danapur Intercity Express and Patna-Dumka Express, have been cancelled today.
CPRO of East Central Railway Saraswati Chandra said over 12 trains have been diverted as a precautionary measure. 12 districts, including Patna, Vaishali, and Begusarai, are affected by flooding due to the sudden rise in water levels of the Ganga and other rivers. Around 10 lakh people are reeling under the fury of the flood. Yesterday, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar conducted the survey of flood-affected areas of Patna and Vaishali districts. He directed the officials to provide all possible help, including relief, to flood victims. The Ganga river is flowing above danger level at several places in Patna, and more than 10 localities and riverine areas are badly affected by the flood.
