PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen will lead the Indian challenge at the Sudirman Cup 2025 badminton tournament in Xiamen, China, starting today. In their first Group D clash, India will face Denmark this afternoon. The match will begin at 2:30 PM Indian time.

Apart from Denmark, India’s other challengers in Group D are the second seeds, Indonesia and England. The top two teams from the group will advance to the quarterfinals.

Sindhu, India’s highest-ranked women’s singles player at world No. 18, will spearhead the team alongside Anupama Upadhyaya, Tanisha Crasto, Priya Konjengbam, Shruti Mishra, and Aadya Variyat.

In the men’s lineup, Lakshya Sen, also ranked No. 18 in men’s singles, will join HS Prannoy, Hariharan Amsakarunan, Ruban Kumar R., Dhruv Kapila, and Sathish Kumar Karunakaran. The country will miss the services of the world No. 11 men’s doubles pair, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, who have pulled out due to fitness concerns.

The Sudirman Cup, organised by the Badminton World Federation, is a biennial international mixed team badminton tournament.

Each tie in the Sudirman Cup consists of five matches – men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles.
