In Badminton, PV Sindhu has advanced to the Women’s Singles quarter-final of Syed Modi India International 2024 Super 300 tournament in Lucknow, in an all-Indian battle defeating Ira Sharma.
Sindhu won 21-10, 12-21, 21-15, in the Round of 16, in a tiebreaker after a solid fight from Ira. In another match, Unnati Hooda defeated Pornpicha Choeikeewong of Thailand, 21-18, 22-20 to ensure a place in the quarter-finals.
In Men’s singles, India’s Lakshya Sen, Meiraba Luwang Maisnam and Ayush Shetty have also entered the last eight. Lakshya Sen defeated Israel’s Daniil Dubovenko in a straight-game today. Sen will take on Mieraba Luwang in an all Indian quarterfinal tomorrow.
In Men’s singles, India’s Meiraba Luwang Maisnam and Ayush Shetty also entered the quarterfinals.
Meiraba defeated sixth-seeded Nhat Nguyen of Ireland, 21-15, 21-13 while Ayush defeated Malaysia’s Justin Hoh, 21-12, 21-19. Later today, Lakshya Sen is set to play for place in last eight against Daniil Dubovenko of Israel.
