Madrid Spain Masters: Indian shuttler PV Sindhu advances to Women’s singles quarter-finals

In Badminton, ace Indian shuttler PV Sindhu has advanced to the Women’s singles quarter-finals of the Madrid Spain Masters tournament. She registered a comfortable win over Y. Huang of Chinese Taipei by 21-14, 21-12. Sindhu will face Supanida Katethong of Thailand in the Quarterfinal today.

 

In Men’s Doubles, the Indian pair of Dhruv Kapila and M. R. Arjun also entered into the quarterfinals with an impressive triumph over Scottish duo C. Grimley and M. Grimley in straight games. They will take on J. Arif and R. K. Yap of Malaysia in the last eight encounters.

 

In Women’s Doubles, star duo of Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto defeated the Australian pair of Tiffany Ho and Gronya Somerville 21-14, 21-8. In Mixed Doubles, another Indian pair of N Sikki Reddy and B Sumeet Reddy beat Allison Lee and Presley Smith of the US in a tight match, 22-20, 21-18.
