Punjab: Water level in different rivers continues to rise as authorities releasing water from different Dams

In Punjab the weather today is dry and partly cloudy, but the water level in different rivers continues to rise as authorities are releasing water from different Dams situated in the state. The Ghaggar river breached at least three places in the Sangrur district flooding hundreds of villages with river water. NDRF teams are helping in the evacuation of marooned people. The water level is flowing over the danger mark in Ghaggar.  

Nearly 20 thousand cusec water has been released from the Pong dam today morning which has increased the water level in Ravi. After this, the Gurdaspur district authorities alerted people residing on the banks of Ravi and advised them to go to safer places. A couple along with their child died in a house collapse incident in Kotkpura town of Faridkot district. Meanwhile, rescue and relief works are underway in flood-affected areas with the help of the army on war footing.
