In Punjab, the relief and rescue works are continued in flood-affected districts relentlessly. The teams of NDRF and SDRF with the help of several NGOs are working round the clock in affected areas. The meteorological department has issued a yellow alert of heavy rain in some districts from today till 26th August.

The Met Department has warned of rain in Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Nawanshahr, Rupnagar, Patiala, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, and Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar districts for the next four days. Presently most of these districts are facing flood fury and the situation is likely to worsen further due to this fresh rainfall. Meanwhile, the increase in the water level of the Beas and Sutlej rivers also cannot be ruled out as the rain continued in many districts of the neighboring state of Himachal Pradesh.
