In Punjab, Leader of Opposition in the Vidhan Sabha Partap Singh Bajwa has demanded a time bound inquiry by a sitting or a retired judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, in the alleged brutal assault on a serving Army officer and his young son by 12 police personnel in Patiala, last week.
Senior BJP leader Mrs Perneet Kaur has also demanded a joint Special Investigation Team consisting of Army and Police officers headed by a Judge for fair investigation. She also submitted a memorandum to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Patiala and staged a dharna outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office today with hundreds of ex-servicemen in Patiala demanding justice for the Colonel.
All the 12 police personnel were suspended by the SSP, Patiala, but Colonel’s family, unsatisfied with the action approached the Punjab Governor recently. Meanwhile, a fresh FIR has been registered on the statement of Colonel Pushpinder Singh Bath, yesterday, and a four-member High Level Special Investigation Team headed by an Additional Director General of Police has been constituted.
