In Punjab, a grenade-like object was lobbed at the residence of a senior BJP leader and national executive member of the party, Manoranjan Kalia, in Jalandhar late last night. Kalia, a former Punjab minister, however, has escaped unhurt.
He told our Jalandhar Correspondent that as per the CCTV footage, the assailant came on an E-rickshaw and lobbed a grenade on his home, however, he said that he is safe.
Meanwhile, Punjab BJP Chief Sunil Jakhar has blamed the state Chief Minister and Director General of Police for having a casual approach in securing the state. He said this attack was a criminal negligence on the part of both of them.
Addressing a press conference at Jalandhar, Jakhar, who was accompanied by Manoranjan Kalia, said that this is a planned attack, as are happening at various places in Punjab at regular intervals to disturb the peace in the state.
Jalandhar Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur said that police teams are investigating. Forensic teams are also working to determine the type of material or object used in the blast
