Punjab Governor, Banwari Lal Purohit has written a strongly worded letter to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for not providing information sought on various issues during the past few months. He said that not furnishing the information would be plainly in dereliction of the constitutional duty which is imposed on the CM. The Governor has made it clear that if he is not given this information he will be compelled to act in accordance with the law and the Constitution.
The Punjab Governor Banwari Lal Purohit is seeking information on various issues including the action taken to control drugs menace in the state from time to time from the Chief Minister since past few months. In his strongly worded letter sent to the Chief Minister on Friday, the Governor has stated that according to the constitution the Chief Minister is obligated to provide this information. Further Governor Purohit has made it clear that in case the Chief Minister does not provide this information, there will be no other option before him to send a report to the President under Section 356 of the Constitution and initiating criminal proceedings against the Chief Minister under Section 124 of the Indian Penal Code.
