In Punjab, the final list of total voters for Lok Sabha Elections has been released by the Chief Electoral Officer, Sibin C. More than 2.14 crore voters are eligible to cast their votes for the elections to be held on 1st June in the seventh and last phase. Hundred per cent voter photo identity cards EPIC have been made in the state.
For registering new voters in the state 4th May was the deadline and the forms submitted were decided by 14th May. Now as per voter list the total number of voters is 2 crore 14 lakh 61 thousand 739. These include 1 crore 12 lakh 86 thousand 726 male, 1 crore 1 lakh 74 thousand 240 female and 773 transgender voters. 5 lakh 38 thousand 715 voters are in the age group of 18 to 19 and will cast their vote for the first time. Similarly, 1 lakh 89 thousand 855 voters are aged above 85 years while the total number of ‘Divyang’ voters is 1 lakh 58 thousand 718.
