In Punjab, a Border Security Force (BSF) personal got injured while preventing a major blast targeting the BSF personnel and Farmers in the Gurdaspur sector late last night. The incident occurred when a BSF party, during an area domination patrol ahead of the border security fence with Pakistan, detected suspicious items well inside the Indian territory.
During the search operation, the troops identified a suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) with a network of concealed wires in the fields, confirming the presence of multiple IEDs.
While cordoning off and sanitising the area, the concealed detonating device of the IEDs got triggered, resulting in a serious leg injury to a BSF jawan. The Jawan is injured but safe and recuperating in a hospital.
Sources said that this was a clear indication of an attempt to target security forces deployed at the border and the farmers.
However, after the day break, the BSF Bomb Disposal Squad reached the spot and thoroughly searched the area and diffused IEDs.
