In Punjab, Police has shot dead an accused of a recent attack on a temple in Amritsar. He has been shot down during a brief encounter in Amritsar, early this morning today, when he opened fire on the police party chasing him and his accomplice. They were riding a motorcycle.

Head Constable Gurpreet Singh also got injured during the encounter whereas Insp. Amolak Singh had a miraculous escape as the bullet fired upon him hit his turban. Meanwhile, the other accused fled.

Police sources confirmed that the accused was taken to hospital after being injured where he succumbed to his injuries. Police is searching for the other accused.

Both of them were involved in hurling a grenade-like object on the religious place on March 14th night damaging its wall. No loss of life was happened.
