Punjab: All preparations in place for Bypolls in 4 Assembly Constituencies on Nov 20

In Punjab, all preparations have been completed to ensure free, fair, and transparent by-polls in four assembly constituencies tomorrow. Nearly 7 lakh voters from Chabewal in Hoshiarpur, Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur, Gidderbaha in Sri Muktsar Sahib, and Barnala will cast their votes.

 

The main contenders in the by-polls are the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress, and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), another major political party in the state, has opted not to contest these elections.

 

Chief Electoral Officer Sibin C announced that 17 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and over 6,000 Punjab Police personnel have been deployed to ensure security. Additionally, more than 3,800 polling staff members have been assigned duties for the smooth conduct of the polling process.

 

Of the 831 polling stations across the four constituencies, 244 have been categorized as critical. To ensure transparency, all polling stations will be monitored through CCTV cameras, with 100% live webcasting for real-time oversight.Polling will be held from 7 AM to 6 PM tomorrow, and the counting of votes is scheduled for November 23.
