Pune Health Authorities Screen 531 Passengers from Singapore and Dubai as Mpox Risk Rises

As the risk of infection of Mpox virus is increasing, preventive measures are being taken by the state health department in the Pune district. 531 passengers from Singapore and Dubai were screened at the Pune airport in the last six days. No suspected patient has been found among them. However, as a precautionary measure, the health department has clarified that all passengers arriving at the airport will be screened for the possible infection of the virus. Private hospitals are instructed to report suspected patients to the municipal health department and send the blood samples of the patients to the National Institute of Virology (NIV) for testing. A letter has also been sent to the private doctors’ association in this regard, informed the Chief of Health Department of Pune Municipal Corporation, Dr. Nina Borade.
