Puducherry Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan and Chief Minister N. Rangasamy inaugurated the World Tourism Day celebrations, organized by the Puducherry Tourism Department, at the Old Port Complex today. The two-day event aims to showcase the region’s rich cultural heritage and emphasize the role of tourism in fostering peace. As part of the celebrations, dignitaries released an information brochure detailing locations associated with Siddhars, the revered spiritual saints of Puducherry. A special Siddhar Tourism Programme was launched, highlighting Puducherry’s spiritual legacy. Over 500 students participated in a workshop on “Tourism and Peace,” which focused on the role of tourism in promoting harmony and cultural understanding. The day’s activities also included cooking competitions and cultural performances. A skill development program will be held tomorrow as part of the event.
