Puducherry felicitates farmers to mark 6th anniversary of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana

On the 6th anniversary of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, the Puducherry government’s Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare organized a ceremony to honour farmers and distribute funds to them. The event featured a live telecast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to farmers in Bhagalpur, Bihar, where he released the 19th instalment of the PM-KISAN scheme.
Puducherry’s Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, and Agriculture Minister C. Jayakumar participated in the event. The Lt. Governor highlighted various farmer-friendly initiatives by the central government, including PM-Kisan, PM Fasal Bima Yojana, the e-NAM scheme, Namo Drone Didi, farm loan waivers, and pension schemes for elderly farmers, encouraging farmers to take full advantage of these programs.
In his address, Chief Minister Rangasamy emphasized that farmers should focus on cultivating cash crops such as sugarcane and coconut, which can generate higher profits with government support.
A similar event was held at the Agricultural Science Center in Mathur, Karaikal, where Puducherry’s Minister for Consumer Affairs P.R.N. Thirumurugan also participated.
