Haryana Director General of Police (DGP), Shatrujeet Kapur said that project “Safe City” will soon be launched in the State to instill a sense of security among the women so that they feel completely safe at workplaces, educational institutions, and public transport. He said that, to begin with, this project will be started in Rohtak and Gurugram. Mr. Shatrujeet Kapur informed this while addressing a press conference at Rohtak Range Office today. He said that after the success in the two cities, the project ‘Safe City’ would be rolled out in the entire State. He said that under the “Safe City” project, coordinated efforts would be made to ensure safe public transport for the women so that they do not have any doubt about their safety while going to educational institutions and workplaces. The police would coordinate local cab unions, auto unions, and public transporters for this purpose. Mr Kapur emphasized that in order to provide a secure atmosphere to students, besides installing CCTV cameras outside the educational institutions, security guards would be deployed. The frequency of Police patrolling at sensitive places would be increased. In cases of eve-teasing, immediate action would be taken after registering FIR, he asserted.
On the law and order situation, Mr. Kapur said that two police units are being trained in each district to deal with any law and order situation. These police units equipped with the latest weapons and instruments would be trained in such a way that they remain prepared all the time to deal with any untoward incident.
