Principal Secretary to Prime Minister, Dr. P K Mishra reviewes follow-up on outcome of G20 Summit

Principal Secretary to Prime Minister, Dr P K Mishra reviewed the follow-up on the outcome of G20 Summit in a high-level meeting with G20 sherpa Amitabh Kant, Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra and Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs Ajay Seth yesterday. Dr Mishra asked officials to prepare for the G-20 virtual summit which was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the G20 Leader's Summit this month in New Delhi. Mr Modi had announced for holding G20 virtual summit in November. Brazil will take over the G20 presidency from India in December. 

Mr Mishra said, G20 summit was not a one-time affair and the Indian presidency has delivered solid outcomes which are being followed up and monitored closely. All ministries concerned leading various working groups are being tasked to implement their sector-specific outcomes. A high-level monitoring group is also being set up. Sources said, the G20 secretariat, the Department of Economic Affairs and the Ministry of External Affairs working closely to deliver on the virtual G20. 

Dr Mishra directed all ministries to focus on the deliverables including those from the declaration and earlier ministerial and working group meetings. He also asked the ministries to conduct webinars with stakeholders and involve state governments and think-tanks in this process. Dr P K Mishra also said that India's support for the African Union in particular and the Global South, in general, is something that should be continued in all actions. He said that there is a need to prepare an action plan for outreach to the Africa Union. During the meeting, it was informed that the Ministry of External Affairs is fully focused on the second Voice of Global South Summit, which is a topic very close to the Prime Minister. Indian Presidency has phenomenal achievements in terms of support and its advocation for the Global South in G20 Agenda.
