The government has said that the price of tomato is expected to come down with the increase in arrival of new crop from Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. Minister of State for Consumer Affairs Ashwini Kumar Choubey said this in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today. He said, Centre has procured tomato under Price Stabilisation Fund to bring relief to consumers. Mr Choubey said, National Cooperative Consumers Federation, NCCF, and National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation, NAFED are selling tomato at 70 rupees per kilogram.
