President Droupadi Murmu has stressed on building resilient food system for the well-being of humanity and to act fast and swiftly to deal with challenges posed by the climate change. The President inaugurated “From Research to Impact: Towards Just and Resilient Agri-Food Systems" in New Delhi today.
Speaking on this occasion, the President highlighted the relevance of the theme of the event 'From Research to Impact: Towards Just and Resilient Agri-Food Systems' saying that humanity cannot survive without foodgrain. She underscored the need to promote women's participation in the decision-making in farm production for making this sector more equitable and resilient. She said, India is witnessing the change as many women entrepreneurs are playing pivotal role in transformation of agricultural food system. The President also underlined the importance of biodiversity and ecology saying that consumption pattern need to be changed and diversification of diet is important for the well-being of people.
Speaking on this occasion, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said, the government has taken several measures for the welfare of small and marginalized farmers in the last few years resulting in significant growth in food production. He said, use of innovative techniques and increasing women's participation have also supplimented the agriculture food system.
