Maharashtra’s Chief Electoral Officer, S. Chockalingam, has informed that since the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) in the state ahead of the assembly elections, preventive actions have been taken against 46,630 individuals. Speaking to the media in Mumbai today, he stated that materials worth more than 252 crore rupees have been seized during this period. Mr. Chockalingam also mentioned that more than 99% of the complaints filed on the C-Vigil app have been resolved as of 4th November. He further informed that, based on the number of contesting candidates, one ballot unit will be installed in 185 constituencies, two units in 100 constituencies, and three units in three constituencies. In response to the Shiv Sena (UBT)’s demand to record the charge in EVMs before and after the voting process, Mr. Chockalingam said that the State Election Commission will act in accordance with the instructions given by the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) in this regard.
