President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar have extended their greetings to the citizens, especially to the Jain community, on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti. In a message, the President said that Bhagwan Mahavir, the embodiment of non-violence and compassion, showed a new path to humanity through the message of Ahimsa Paramo Dharma that Non-Violence is the supreme religion. She added that the festival holds the message to follow the path of spirituality and adopt the values of simplicity, kindness and detachment from material possessions and desires.
Meanwhile, the Vice President said in a message that the eternal teachings of Lord Mahavir continue to illuminate our path towards a more compassionate and harmonious world. He added that Lord Mahavir’s profound message of the equality of all living beings and respect for diverse viewpoints remains ever-relevant in today’s world.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended his greetings to the citizens, especially to the Jain community, on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti. In a social media post, he said that the ideals of Lord Mahavira give strength to countless people all around the world. He added that his teachings have been beautifully preserved and popularised by the Jain community. Mr Modi said that the Government is committed to fulfilling the vision of Bhagwan Mahavir. He stated that the previous year, the government granted Prakrit the designation of Classical Language, a decision that garnered significant praise.
