President Droupadi Murmu has awarded the President’s Colours to the prestigious College of Defence Management (CDM) in Secunderabad at a ceremonial event today. The presidential colours are a testament to the professional excellence of any institute.

Speaking on the occasion, the President said the country’s self-reliance and strategic partnerships in the defence sector will not only protect the country’s borders but also strengthen its strategic global partnerships. The President further said the government has taken several measures to enhance Indigenous capabilities of the defence industry through initiatives like Make in India, Ease of Doing Business and Development of defence industry corridors to encourage investments in our defence sector. The President further said that as part of focusing on indigenization, many defence products have been identified for domestic manufacturing and will not be imported. President Murmu said the time is now ripe for launching a new phase of self-reliance by manufacturing technologically advanced equipment within India. The President asked the armed services to contribute towards achieving self-reliance and realizing the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

President Murmu has released a special postal cover on CDM on the occasion. Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma unveiled a book called ‘Pearls of Ancient Indian Wisdom’ on the occasion.
