President Murmu participates in National Day celebrations of Mauritius as Chief Guest

President Droupadi Murmu participated in the National Day celebrations of Mauritius as the Chief Guest on Tuesday. The event was organized at the Champ De Mars in Mauritius which is nestled in the lush green mountains. President of Mauritius Prithvirajsing Roopun, Prime Minister of Mauritius Pravind Kumar Jugnauth and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

In Mauritius on this day in 1968, the Union Jack was brought down and the Mauritian flag was hosted for the first time in the Champ de Mars. The ceremony took place in the presence of the British Governor Sir John Shaw Rennie and the first Prime Minister of Mauritius Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam. As the National Day celebration started today, flag of Mauritius was hoisted on top mast followed by 21 gun salute. Indian Navy Helicopter took part in the fly past while Indian Navy contingent also participated in the march past along with their Mauritius counterparts. Apart from this Mauritian performers presented a vibrant cultural program, skillfully showcasing the rich traditions and heritage of their nation.
