President Murmu emphasises to adopt enviorment sensitive lifestyle to make it more vibrant

President Droupadi Murmu has emphasised adopting a lifestyle which is conscious and sensitive towards the environment so that it is not only protected but also made more vibrant. The President stated this while inaugurating a National Conference on Environment-2025 at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi today. The two-day event has been organised by the National Green Tribunal. The President added that environmental protection and its promotion will be possible only through continuous activism based on awareness and collective efforts of all. She said that it is our moral responsibility to provide a legacy of a clean environment to the coming generations. The President mentioned that balancing a clean environment and modern development is both an opportunity and a challenge. Emphasizing environmental conservation, President Murmu said the basis of the Indian heritage of development is nurture and not exploitation, protection and not elimination.

The President also said that over the last decade, India has achieved several examples of early completion of its Nationally Determined Contributions as per international agreements.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav said that India is focusing on ramping up innovations in low carbon technology, and it believes that rapid economic growth is the best defence against climate change for developing nations. He said that India is the third largest renewable energy producing country in the world and has set a target of 500 Giga Watt renewable energy capacity by 2030. He said India is not only focusing on reducing its carbon footprint but also creating millions of jobs through the green energy sector.
On the occasion, Supreme Court Judge Justice Vikram Nath emphasised that the government policies must encourage green technologies and industries be mindful of their environmental footprint.NGT Chairperson Justice Prakash Shrivastava was also present on the occasion.
This conference marks a vital step towards fostering collaboration, raising awareness, and advancing the collective mission of environmental protection and sustainability.
