President Droupadi Murmu highlighted that many effective steps have been taken for the overall development of tribal people during the last 10 years. Inaugurating the Aadi Mahotsav 2025 in New Delhi on Sunday, President Murmu said the traditions and way of living of tribal people in the country enrich the culture of the nation. She said allocation for tribal welfare has increased three fold in this year’s Budget. She said the country will become developed only if the tribal societies are uplifted. She added that multi-dimensional efforts are being made to develop the tribal society at a fast pace.
The President said that the crafts, food, dress and jewellery, medical practices, household equipment, and sports of the tribal society are the precious heritage of the country. Akashvani correspondent reports that Aadi Mahotsav is being organised by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs from today to 24th February.
Aadi Mahotsav aims to celebrate and showcase the vibrant culture, heritage, and economic potential of India’s tribal communities. The festival, which is being held at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, brings together over 600 tribal artisans, 500 performing artists, and 25 tribal food stalls, representing the diverse traditions of more than 30 states and Union Territories. The key highlights of Aadi Mahotsav include live demonstrations by tribal artisans from various states and State and International pavilions showcasing unique tribal crafts. The festival is a significant initiative under the mission to create sustainable livelihood opportunities for India’s tribal communities.
