In the United States, President-elect Donald Trump yesterday announced his nominees for key ambassadorial roles. Former Congressman Pete Hoekstra has been nominated as Ambassador to Canada while Acting Attorney General Matthew G. Whitaker will be the US Ambassador to NATO.

Trump praised Hoekstra for his exceptional work as the United States Ambassador to the Netherlands during his first term, expressing confidence that Hoekstra will continue to represent American interests effectively in his new position. Regarding Whitaker, Trump stated that he would work to advance and defend US interests at NATO.

Earlier, Trump selected former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee as Ambassador to Israel and named real estate investor and philanthropist Steven C. Witkoff as Special Envoy to the Middle East.
