President Droupadi Murmu will embark on a three nation visit to Algeria, Mauritania and Malawi from tomorrow till 19th of October. This will be the first ever visit by the President of India to the three African nations. The historic visit comes a year after the African Union was made a permanent member of the G 20 during India’s Presidency. During her weeklong visit, President Droupadi Murmu will hold bilateral meetings and interact with Indian diaspora.
On the first leg of the visit, the President Droupadi Murmu will visit Algeria from tomorrow till 15th of October. During the visit, President will hold bilateral meetings with her counterpart Abdelmadjid Tebboune. The President will also address the India-Algeria Economic Forum and the Sidi Abdellah Science and Technology Pole University. She will also inaugurate the India Corner at Hamma Garden at Jardin d’essai. On the second leg of the visit, President Droupadi Murmu will visit Mauritania on 16th October. The visit is taking place at a crucial time when Mauritania is holding the Presidency of the African Union. During the visit, President will hold bilateral meetings with the President of Mauritania Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani. The President will also interact with Indian diaspora. On the last leg of the visit President Draupadi Murmu will visit Malawi from 17th to 19th October. During the visit, the President will hold bilateral meetings with Malawi’s leadership and interact with key trade and industry leaders and the Indian diaspora. The three nation visit by President Droupadi Murmu to Algeria, Mauritania and Malawi aims to further strengthen and expand India’s relation with countries in Africa.
