President Droupadi Murmu today paid tributes to Utkal Keshari, Dr. Harekrushna Mahtab in New Delhi. Inaugurating the 125th Birth Anniversary Celebration of Dr. Harekrushna Mahtab, President Murmu expressed happiness at the opportunity to release the special commemorative stamp and coin in the honour of Dr. Mahtab. She said, she has always been inspired by Dr Harekrushna Mahtab’s writings and speeches.
President Murmu elaborated how Dr Harekrushna Mahtab took an active part in the Independence struggle and spread the Gandhian thought and philosophy to villages across Odisha. She said he played a crucial role in the integration of India. President lauded his leadership and ideas of nationalism.
Dr. Harekrushna Mahtab was born on 21 November 1899, in Agarpara, Odisha. He was a multifaceted leader in Indian history, known as a freedom fighter, politician, historian, writer, social reformer, and journalist. Dr. Mahtab is remembered for his strong will, determination, and influence, earning recognition as one of the state’s foremost leaders.
