Union Minister for Ayush, Sarbananda Sonowal has said that the power and the efficacy of the Indian system of medicine in providing holistic and quality health care has been realised and accepted globally thereby growing from three billion dollar industry to a 23 billion dollar income generating field in the past nine years.
Speaking at the regional review meeting of Ayush in Chennai, the Minister stated that in the 21st century where there are health challenges all over the World, India was able to counter it with Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and homeopathy systems for holistic health care. The Minister informed that the Government was keen in providing quality health care for every citizen of the Country and opened numerous wellness centers to cater to the needs even for those living in far-off areas.
Asserting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision is also to take this form of health care at a global level, the Minister told that Indians have to project, propagate and promote health care based on the Indian system of Medicines. He appealed to the State Governments to cooperate with the Union Government and advocate good health care and wellness for every individual.
The review meeting was attended by State health Ministers of Tamilnadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Lakshadweep and Puducherry. The participants also performed a yoga session during the meet.
