Polling underway for assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha

In State assembly elections of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, around 40 percent polling was recorded till 1 PM. In Odisha, long queues are being seen outside most of the polling booths where voting is progressing peacefully for the first phase of Lok Sabha and assembly polls. Technical glitches in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in few polling booths were reported, which were rectified soon.

 

The fate of several heavyweights of the BJP, BJD and Congress will be decided in these parliamentary seats and assembly seats. The prominent candidates who are trying their luck in today’s Lok Sabha polls in Odisha are Pradeep Panigrahy of BJP, BJD’s Bhrugu Baxi Patro and Pradeep Majhi , Saptagiri Ulaka of Congress.

 

In the Assembly elections, the fate of state Congress President Sarat Pattanayak, former Union Minister Bhakta Charan Das, Taraprasad Bahinipati and Bijay Patnaik of Congress, Jagannath Saraka, Dibya Shankar Mishra and Rajendra Dholkia of BJD and Pradipta Naik of BJP will be decided.

In Andhra Pradesh, voting is taking place simultaneously for Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. Polling is underway for all 175 assembly constituencies and 25 Lok Sabha seats of the state. As many as 454 candidates are in the fray for Lok Sabha and 2,387 for Assembly polls. Over 4 crore voters eligible to cast their ballots.
