Police have arrested seven accused in the case of stripping and torturing a pregnant tribal woman in the Dhariyawad police station area of Pratapgarh district in Rajasthan. Four people have also been detained. The police have constituted a special investigation team -SIT in this matter. Senior police officers have reached the district after the incident. State Director General of Police Umesh Mishra said that the incident probably took place on the 31st of August. He said that the in-laws of the victim have done this heinous act. The National Commission for Women and the State Commission for Women have taken cognizance of the matter and directed the police to take strict action against the culprits. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said that such crimes have no place in a civilised society. He said that the accused will be prosecuted in the fast-track court and punished. The opposition BJP has criticised the State government over the matter. Former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje said that this incident has brought shame to Rajasthan. She appealed to the people not to share the viral video. Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Rajendra Singh Rathore said that the Pratapgarh incident is very shameful. He said that atrocities against women have reached its zenith in the State. The Bharatiya Janata Party has constituted a three-member committee to probe the matter.
