In the Kashmir Valley, Police along with Army in a joint operation have recovered two IEDs from Wodhpura forest area of Handwara in north Kashmir's Kupwara district today. The prompt action by the joint team of security forces have averted a major incident in the area. Police sources said that based on specific information, Army along with Handwara Police launched a swift and well-coordinated Search and Destruction Operation (SADO) at Wodhpura Forest area in the wee hours today. In the joint operation, two IEDs of approximately 05 and 07 Kgs were recovered from Wodhpura Ridge near NH 701.
The joint team immediately cordoned off the area with adequate security measures. The positive identification of IEDs were carried out by Indian Army's highly trained explosive detection team equipped with explosive detectors & Army's sniffer dog's.
According to Police, the Bomb Disposal team executed a controlled detonation of IEDs, rendering them safe. Meanwhile, a thorough search operation was resumed by joint teams of Army and Handwara Police in the general area of Wodhpura Forests for possibility of any more IED or hiding terrorists.
