PM Modi asserts, govt making steady efforts for bringing lasting peace in NorthEast region

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said, Bodoland in Assam has witnessed a new wave of development after the 2020 peace agreement.

 

Addressing the first Bodoland Mohotsav in New Delhi last evening, the Prime Minister said, the 2020 Bodo Peace Accord had not just benefited the Bodo community, but also opened avenues for many more peace accords. He said, that due to peace accords, more than 10 thousand youths have given up arms and violence in Assam alone and they have joined the mainstream.

 

The Prime Minister said, he feels satisfied after seeing the impact of growth in Bodoland, which saw violence and bloodshed for nearly 50 years. He said, the Central Government has given a special package of 1,500 crore rupees for the development of Bodoland. Mr Modi said, the Assam government has also given a special development package.

 

More than 700 crore rupees has been spent to develop infrastructure related to education, health and culture in Bodoland. He asked people who are on the path of Naxalism to learn something from Bodo people.

 

Mr. Modi lauded the Bodos for creating a new history after years of struggle and mediation efforts. Emphasizing the importance of skill development and the availability of opportunities for the youth and women for development, Mr. Modi spoke about SEED Mission which is Skilling, Entrepreneurship, Employment and Development. He expressed confidence that the Bodo youth are getting huge benefits from this.

 

Prime Minister Modi said that the NDA government is committed to ensuring progress and prosperity for the vibrant Bodo community. He remarked that the entire North East, including Assam, is the Ashtalakshmi of India and the dawn of development would rise from Eastern India to give new energy to the resolve of a developed India.

 

He said, the government is constantly making efforts for permanent peace in the North East by trying to find amicable solutions to the border disputes between the states of the North East.

 

Governor of Assam Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Chief of Bodoland Territorial Region Pramod Boro, President of All Bodo Students Union Deepen Bodo, President of Bodo Sahitya Sabha Dr Surath Narzary were present on the occasion among others. Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma virtually joined the event.

 

The two-day Mohotsov is also about celebrating the remarkable journey of recovery and resilience ever since the signing of the Bodo Peace Accord in 2020 under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. This peace agreement not only resolved decades of conflict, violence, and loss of life in Bodoland but also served as a catalyst for other peace settlements.
