Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Vande Bharat Express rail service in the Tirunelveli- Chennai Egmore-Tirunelveli sector today. This is the second Vande Bharat service to the State of Tamilnadu after Coimbatore, the Manchester of the State. Chennai, the capital of the State known to be a hub of cultural, industrial, healthcare, and robust economic activity will be connected with the city of Tirunelveli or Nellai.
Tirunelveli is well known for its river Tamirabarani and also for its ancient temples, pilgrimage, and tourism hotspots, and also for its renowned Tirunelveli Halwa. Akashvani correspondent reports that the state-of-the-art Vande Bharat offers faster and enhanced connectivity which will benefit people traveling for pilgrimage, business, education, healthcare, and other travel needs. The newly introduced will help save considerable travel time for the passengers. As compared to existing train services along the route, the service of Tirunelveli-Chennai Vande Bharat Express will be faster by more than two hours. Vande Bharat Express is equipped with world-class amenities and advanced safety features.
The maiden journey will begin from Tirunelveli towards Chennai Egmore at 12: 30 p.m. today. The train passes through Kovilpatti, Virudhunagar, Madurai, Dindigul, Trichy, Villupuram, and Tambaram. In the return direction, the train will leave Chennai Egmore at 2.50 p.m. and reach Tirunelveli at 10:40 p.m. It will stop at Tambaram , Villupuram, Tiruchi, Dindigul, Madurai and Virudhunagar. The train will take 7 hours 55 minutes to cross the 652. 49 km at an average speed of 83.30 kmph. The rail services between Chennai to Tirunelveli are mostly preferred by passengers reaching out to districts of South Tamilnadu.
