Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for the construction of changing rooms on floating jetties at 6 ghats of Kashi today. Prime Minister will also inaugurate the floating changing room built at Dashashwamedh Ghat.

AIR Correspondent reports that Floating changing rooms are already being operated under the pilot project at Dashashwamedh Ghat in Varanasi, which has been used by 4 lakh people since June 2023. In view of this success, arrangements are now being made to provide floating changing rooms at other major ghats as well. Chief General Manager of Varanasi Smart City, Dr. D. Vasudevan said that as a pilot project, a floating jetty changing room was built at Dashashwamedh Ghat. Now floating jetty changing rooms will be constructed at 6 more ghats at Rajendra Prasad Ghat, Assi Ghat, Shivala Ghat, Rajghat, Kedar Ghat and Panch Ganga Ghat at a cost of Rs 5.70 crore rupees. Each floating changing room will have separate changing rooms for 10 women and 10 men.
