Kashi not just symbol of antiquity but also model of progress: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 44 projects worth over three thousand eight hundred 84 crore rupees at Mehdiganj in Varanasi. These projects include development in road infrastructure, electricity, education and tourism aimed at enhancing the overall growth of the region. Later, addressing a public rally, he highlighted the city’s rapid development and said Kashi is no longer just a symbol of antiquity but has emerged as a model of progress. He praised the transformation, citing infrastructure upgrades, religious tourism, and improved civic amenities that have reshaped the ancient city into a modern urban centre.

The Prime Minister also handed over Ayushman cards to three elderly people above the age of 70 years and certificates for three Geographical Indications (GI), and also transferred a bonus of 106 crore rupees to dairy farmers of the state associated with Banas Dairy (Amul).

The Prime Minister said that Kashi is now emerging as the health capital of Purvanchal. He said that Ayushman Bharat Yojana is no less than a boon for common people. This scheme gives confidence along with treatment. Lakhs of people of Uttar Pradesh have already benefited from this scheme.

PM Modi took a dig at opposition parties, saying they only promote family interests, not the nation’s development. He added that in the coming months, when all the development work will be completed and commuting to and from Varanasi will become easier, there will be all-around progress. He added that the government is in constant pursuit of providing growth opportunities to the youth of Kashi in the field of sports. India is trying its best to be able to host the 2036 Olympics. But to shine in the Olympics, the youth of Kashi will have to begin training today.

The Prime Minister highlighted that today, there is an echo of Made in India. Indian products are becoming global brands. Many things here have been given the GI tag. Today, UP is number one in GI tagging in the entire country. Our art, our skill, is rapidly gaining international recognition.

Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, along with both Deputy Chief Ministers, graced the event.
