PM Modi to virtually lay the foundation stone of a semiconductor plant at Jagiroad in Morigaon district of Assam

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to virtually lay the foundation stone of a semiconductor plant at Jagiroad in Morigaon district of Assam this morning.

The ₹27,000 crore semiconductor plant is to be established at the Hindustan Paper Corporation’s erstwhile Nagaon Paper Mill premises and this would be the North Easter region’s largest private investment project. The Assam-based unit is projected to produce an impressive 48 million chips per day, marking a notable milestone for the Northeast.

The Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facility at Jagiroad, Morigaon to be set up by Tata Electronics Private Limited (TEPL) under the Modified Scheme for Semiconductor Assembly, Testing, Marking and Packaging (ATMP). The construction of the semiconductor unit would commence within the next 100 days.
