PM Modi to Launch ₹79,156 Crore Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyan in Hazaribagh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a day-long visit to Hazaribagh tomorrow. Mr Modi is scheduled to launch the ambitious Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyan with a total outlay of 79,156 crore rupees. This programme will be at the campus of Vinoba Bhabe University.

 

Later Mr. Modi will also address a public meeting at Gandhi Maidan in Hazaribagh on the occasion of the concluding ceremony of Parivartan which was started on September 20.

 

Speaking about the Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyan, Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram said that this programme is aimed at improving the socio-economic condition of tribal communities, by adopting saturation coverage for tribal families in tribal-majority villages and aspirational districts.

 

Mr Oram said the Abhiyan will cover around 63 thousand villages benefitting more than 5 crore tribal people.  It will cover 549 districts and 2,740 blocks spread across all tribal majority villages in 30 States and Union territories.

 

The Mission comprises 25 interventions which will be implemented by 17 ministries. Each Ministry and Department would be responsible for the implementation of the scheme related to it in a time-bound manner through funds allocated to them under the Development Action Plan for Scheduled Tribes (DAPST) in the next 5 years.
