Today is the birth anniversary of social reformer Savitribai Phule. Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Ms Phule on the occasion. In a social media post, the Prime Minister hailed Savitribai Phule as a beacon of women’s empowerment and a pioneer in the field of education and social reform.

Meanwhile, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also remarked that Ms Phule opened the doors for women’s education and fought vigorously for the rights of the deprived, oppressed and exploited sections of society.
