Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that every player who goes to Paris is a Champion. He asserted that the government will continue to support sports and ensure that a top-quality sporting infrastructure is built. The Prime Minister made remarks while interacting with the Indian Olympic Contingent that participated in the Paris Olympics, at his residence in New Delhi. In a social media post, Mr Modi said that he was delighted to meet with players, hear about their experiences from the games and lauded their feats on the sports field.
During the Prime Minister’s interaction with players, Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya and Indian Olympic Association President P T Usha were also present. The Indian players secured a total of six medals in the Paris Olympics in 2024. Shooter Manu Bhaker, Sarabjot Singh, and Swapnil Kusale secured the Bronze Medal in Shooting, while the Indian men’s Hockey team also clinched the Bronze Medal. Javelin Player Neeraj Chopra won the Silver Medal in the Men’s Javelin throw event.
