President Droupadi Murmu has expressed grief over the tragic loss of innocent lives in the fire that broke out at the Jhansi Medical College in Uttar Pradesh.

In a social media post, the President prayed for strength for the bereaved parents and families to endure their immense pain. President Murmu further wished for the speedy recovery of the injured infants.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced an ex-gratia of two lakh rupees from the Prime Minister’s National Relief fund for the next of kin of each deceased in the fire accident at Jhansi Medical College in Uttar Pradesh. The injured would be given fifty thousand rupees.

In a social media post, Mr Modi said that his thoughts are with the grieving families during this difficult time. The Prime Minister also assured that the local administration, under the supervision of the Uttar Pradesh government is making every possible effort to assist in the relief and rescue operations.
