PM Modi expresses confidence that Sri Lanka will keep working to fulfil aspirations of Tamil community

Prime Minister Narendra expressed confidence that Sri Lanka will keep working to fulfil the aspirations of the Tamil community. In a tweet, Mr Modi said this year marks 75 years of India-Sri Lanka bilateral relations and 200 years since the Indian-origin Tamil community arrived in Sri Lanka. During the joint press meeting with Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe, various projects worth 75 crore rupees were announced for Indian-origin Tamils in Sri Lanka. Mr Modi said India will keep contributing to the development works in the Northern and Eastern regions of Sri Lanka. He added that in order to boost commercial and people-to-people linkages, passenger ferry services will start between Nagapattinam and Kankesanthurai.
