Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 is more than a reform and is the nation’s intellectual renaissance. He mentioned that the NEP is paving the way for a self-reliant, globally competitive nation through education and innovation. Mr Modi said this while sharing Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s article in a newspaper highlighting the transformation India’s education sector has undergone in the last decade.
Meanwhile, Mr Pradhan refuted the allegations that the education system has veered off its course in the last decade and exclaimed that nothing could be further from the truth. He mentioned that corruption and governance deficit were the defining features of the country’s educational past, and the NEP 2020 represents a decisive break from this. He added that it is not merely an education reform but the intellectual decolonisation that India had awaited for a long time.
